Local SEO is the work of getting your business into the Google Maps 3-pack for the searches that actually bring in customers — not just any keyword you happen to rank for. Here's how map pack ranking actually works, what determines it, and what a realistic timeline looks like.
Google ranks the map pack — the 3 businesses shown with a map at the top of a local search — on three broad factors: relevance, distance, and prominence. Relevance is how well your Google Business Profile matches what the searcher typed, which is why category accuracy matters more than most business owners expect. Distance is how close your listed location is to the searcher — which is why a business's zone within a city, not just the city name, sets its real competitive set (this is a big part of why we treat Gurgaon's DLF and Sohna Road as separate markets rather than one). Prominence is a mix of your review signals, citation consistency, and how complete and active your profile is — the reason a market with lighter existing competition, like Greater Noida, often sees faster ranking movement than a saturated one.
None of these are things a website redesign fixes on its own. A business can have a fast, well-written website and still be invisible in the map pack, because the map pack is driven primarily by Google Business Profile signals, not website content. This is the single most common misunderstanding we see during the free audit — business owners who've invested in their website and assume that's what's holding rankings back, when the actual gap is in GBP, citations, or reviews.
This is also why local SEO and general SEO are different disciplines with different priorities. See the full list of what's included in the service on our pricing page →
See Where You Rank — Free Audit →A local search results page usually shows two separate rankings stacked on top of each other: the map pack (3 businesses with a map, driven by GBP signals) and the organic results below it (blue links, driven by website content and backlinks). These are ranked independently. A business can sit at position one organically and still not appear in the map pack at all — or the reverse.
For most local service businesses, the map pack is where the overwhelming majority of calls and enquiries come from, because it sits above the fold with a map, phone number, and directions one tap away. That's why our engagements prioritise GBP, citations, and reviews first — the levers that move the map pack — rather than starting with website content that primarily affects the organic results underneath it.
Find out where you actually rank — free audit →The three ranking factors are the same for every business, but which one is actually holding you back changes case by case. I review every audit personally before recommending anything, because a template checklist misses the specific reason a specific business isn't ranking.
If we're not the right fit — wrong stage, wrong budget, wrong market — I'll say so directly during the audit call rather than taking on work that won't move the needle.
Talk to Sumedha directly →The free audit is 15 minutes. You'll leave knowing exactly where you rank, what's suppressing you, and what to fix first — with a written report, yours to keep.
